Our guest speaker Susan Free will talk to us about the Feldenkrais method of exercising. Susan will introduce the history and principles of the Feldenkrais Method, and lead the group in a seated Awareness Through Movement lesson.
Susan Free is a Feldenkrais Practitioner in Toronto with almost thirty years’ experience teaching movement to a diverse range of students—from highly skilled university athletes and performers, to very elderly people with significant mobility issues and dementia. In addition to public Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes, Susan also works with individuals in private hands-on Functional Integration sessions. Featured in Dr. Norman Doidge’s book, The Brain’s Way of Healing, the Feldenkrais Method offers an effective approach to addressing habitual movement patterns that may interfere with fluid, efficient functioning. Feldenkrais lessons are structured explorations that employ gentle and unexpected actions to enhance awareness and affect change. After an hour, students typically feel revitalized, able to move with better coordination, agility and ease.
Please come with your comfortable clothing and we will practice Feldenkrais exercise to make our stiff muscles work!
