Cervical dystonia, also known as spasmodic torticollis, is a focal dystonia characterized by neck muscles contracting involuntarily, causing abnormal movements and awkward posture of the head and neck. The movements may be sustained (“tonic”), jerky (“clonic”), or a combination of both.

CALGARY, AB – August 15, 2018 – The Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF) Canada is pleased to announce that September is dystonia awareness month in Canada. As one of the many initiatives taking place, DMRF Canada will be hosting the first ever two-day Dystonia Symposium for dystonia patients and their loved ones in Calgary, AB on September 15th & 16th.

DMRF Canada, in partnership with Jackson Mooney and his brother Jeff, are thrilled to announce that DMRF Canada selected the 2018 Jackson Mooney Patient Grant recipient.

The Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF) is seeking applications for postdoctoral research fellowships to conduct basic research into the causes and mechanisms of dystonia.
